Help 'MAP Encinitas' By Sharing Your Walking, Cycling Habits
The city is compiling a list of 35 bike and pedestrian improvements to make, and is asking for public input via an online survey.
ENCINITAS, CA — Walkers and cyclists in Encinitas can provide their input on pedestrian and bicycle improvements through a Community Mobility Survey available online.
In 2018, the city adopted its Active Transportation Plan (ATP), which established a network of biking and walking facilities throughout Encinitas. The ATP identified needed routes, gap closures, safety considerations and facility options, but officials were unable to develop a plan to implement those improvements due to funding limitations, the city said on its website.
However, in 2020 Encinitas received money from the Caltrans Sustainable Communities Grant, so it will now develop an implementation plan through its Model Alternatives Project (MAP Encinitas) – and that's where community input comes in.

"When complete, MAP Encinitas will provide a list of the 35 highest priority bike and pedestrian projects that reflect the community's desires and values," the city wrote on Facebook. The city will also develop conceptual plans and fact sheets for those projects to ensure it is well-positioned to apply for grant funding, according to the city's website.
Anyone interested in getting further involved in MAP Encinitas is encouraged to attend future public meetings.
