Last Chance: Property Taxes, Dalai Lama and Art
Here are a few fast-approaching deadlines you may not want to miss.

Deadlines can easily fall off your radar and through the cracks. Every week Encinitas Patch is here to help with Last Chance, a rundown of some windows of opportunity closing this week.
Here’s the scoop for Encinitas this week:
- The second installment of property taxes is due Tuesday, April 10. Five county offices will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate late filers. You can find a complete list of office locations . Payments can also be made over the telephone at (877) 829-4732, or online at sdtreastax.com.
- Tickets for the Dalai Lama’s appearance at UC San Diego on April 18 were gone within hours, but Patch is conducting a photo contest that ends on Friday morning, with two tickets as the grand prize. The Tibetan spiritual leader will be talking about global warming, climate change and its effects on humans and the economy. Here’s how you can win the tickets: Take a photo of yourself incorporating environmentally conscious practices in your everyday life. That can be anything from shopping with a reusable grocery bag, composting in your back yard, or rolling up your sleeves for a beach cleanup. Short videos will be accepted, too. To enter, .
- If you haven’t seen local artist exhibition at the , you only have a few more days to check that out. That free exhibition closes on Monday, April 16.
