LCC vs. Torrey Pines Beach Bowl Rivalry Game Nov. 8
The winner will get bragging rights and the SDUHSD Golden Surfboard.
The final regular season week of football games in San Diego County is, traditionally, “rivals week,” and there is no healthier rivalry than between Torrey Pines and La Costa Canyon. Not only is it a North County Conference game, but this Friday’s (Nov. 8) contest will crown the San Dieguito Union High School District champion in the eighth annual “Beach Bowl.”
The Beach Bowl game is a fun way for the entire school district of beach communities to celebrate its strong academic and athletic programs, and crown the SDUHSD football champion for the year. Kick-off will be at 7:00 PM at La Costa Canyon High School in La Costa. As usual, a large and enthusiastic crowd is expected. The game will also be “Senior Night” for the Mavericks.
In addition to the Golden Surfboard trophy being at stake, both football teams enter the Beach Bowl with identical 6-3 overall records, and 3-1 league records. La Costa Canyon suffered its only Avocado League loss at Oceanside last week, while Torrey Pines was dealt its only Palomar League defeat at home versus Ramona. Last year, the Falcons ended a seven-year reign by the Mavericks as kings of the Beach Bowl and owners of the Golden Surfboard.
