Leucadia 101 Main Street Assoc. Celebrates 10 Years of Accomplishments
Ten years of community, collaboration, revitization, preservation and commitment helps Leucadians and visitors enjoy a vibrant downtown
October 2013 marks the formal celebration of Leucadia 101’s 10 years of hard work and dedication to the beautification, restoration and revitalization of one of California’s most beautiful and eclectic beach cities.
In 2003, L101 formed based on the success of the Downtown Encinitas Main Street Association’s (DEMA) revitalization efforts. They recently celebrated their 25th anniversary as a national Main Street Association. L101 uses the same program designed to offer small town commercial districts with the tools for a successful launch of their commercial district revitalization efforts and event promotion.
Along the N. Coast Highway 101, between Encinitas Blvd. and La Costa Avenue to the north, exciting changes have taken shape. From renovations to the areas historic landmarks, to storefront improvement projects, funded by the façade grant program, Leucadia’s renaissance over the past decade has been met with marked enthusiasm from travel and tourism writers as well as residents and property owners as an inviting place to visit and do business. From the Leucadia Farmer’s Market, aiding in the streetscape design and facilitation process to the creation of Leucadia’s entry sign, the “Adopt-A-Media” tree-planting project, temporary sidewalk installation and a host of annual events that promote a clean, safe and friendly atmosphere, Leucadia’s re-birth has begun, turning a sleepy beach city into a vibrant, artsy, soulful and relevant community that many people call home and visitors want to frequent.
