Encinitas Man Hit by Car After Running into Oncoming Traffic

He was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

A man was hit by a car Tuesday night after he ran into oncoming traffic on El Camino Real.

Just after 9:30 p.m. the man ran eastbound across the 100 block of N. El Camino Real and was hit by a Toyota Camry traveling north, according to a news release from the San Diego County Sherriff’s Department.

The man, who is described as white and about 40, was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital with life threatening injuries. The man did not have any ID on him, and it’s unknown if he was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
