Man Stabbed At North County Big-Box Store By Attempted Shoplifter: Sheriff
A man was stabbed inside a North County big-box store Saturday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
ENCINITAS, CA — A man was arrested after stabbing another man at an Encinitas Home Depot Saturday morning, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The stabbing occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday, when the suspect entered the store an attempted to leave without paying for several items. That prompted three bystanders to intervene. The suspect brandished a knife and stabbed one bystander before fleeing the scene, deputies said.
Authorities applied a tourniquet to the injured person's leg after they arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital by paramedics, deputies said.

Police established a perimeter around the store and the suspect, Hernan Padilla, was taken into custody on the 7900 block of Anillo Way in Carlsbad, deputies said.
Padilla was treated for injuries after attempting to evading deputies and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility, according to deputies.
