Man Who Died in Riptide at Moonlight Beach IDed
Bacilio Manuel-Tomas and his nephew, Gerardo Cruz-Manuel, were both pull from the beach on May 29.
A Guatemalan man who died Saturday, after two weeks on life support from being caught in a riptide at Moonlight Beach, was identified Sunday by the Medical Examiner as Bacilio Manuel-Tomas, 39.
Manuel-Tomas and his nephew, Gerardo Cruz-Manuel, 17, both from Guatemala, were visiting relatives and got into trouble in the surf in Encinitas on May 29.
Lifeguards found both men unresponsive in the water and pulled them to shore.

Both men initially survived and were taken to Scripps Memorial Encintas Hospital.
The nephew, Cruz-Manuel, was taken to Scripps Memorial Encinitas Hospital where he remained comatose and in declining condition, until he died June 2.
