Mike Daigle Appointed Encinitas Fire Chief

Daigle will be paid roughly $178,000 annually as chief, up from his deputy chief's salary of about $157,000, reported the U-T San Diego.

Encinitas appointed Deputy Chief Mike Daigle as fire chief on Dec. 19. Daigle has served as the department’s interim chief since the previous fire chief resigned after just two months on the job, reported the Del Mar Times.

Under a joint fire management services agreement, the Encinitas Fire Department provides operational oversight for emergency services at eight stations in Encinitas, Del Mar and Solana Beach.

Daigle, 54, replaces former Chief Jon Canavan, who resigned after two months on the job to go back to Poway.
