
A motorist struck a skateboarder in a bicycle lane near Cardiff State Beach today, causing non-life-threatening injuries, and was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, authorities said.
The skateboarder, a male, was struck on South Coast Highway around 12:45 a.m., said San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Kelly Martinez.
The motorist, who was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer, stopped and called 911, she said.

Paramedics took the skateboarder to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Martinez said, noting a female passenger in the Lancer was also taken to the hospital. The extent of her injuries was unclear.
