NCTD Receives Top Federal Security Rating
It was one of 14 in the nation to receive that rating.

Editor's Note: The following news release is from the North County Transit District (NCTD).
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has publicly recognized NCTD for its top-notch security program.
NCTD was of one of only 14 transit agencies across the United States that received the TSA’s top “Gold Standard” rating in 2012 for achievements in the Baseline Assessment for Security Enhancement (BASE) program. The TSA created the BASE program to institute a standard for transit systems’ security programs, as well as track transit systems’ progress in improving their systems.

The assessment measured the essential characteristics that are present in any top transit security program. These included security plans, training, drills, outreach, and background check programs.
Chris Orlando, Chairman of the NCTD Board of Directors said, “The safety and security of passengers riding our system is a top priority for NCTD. We are committed to a strong transit security program and will continue to meet or exceed BASE standards. We are very pleased to receive this recognition.”
