New Encinitas Fire Chief Leaves After 2 Months to Go Back to Poway

Encinitas Fire Chief Jon Canavan, who joined the department just two months ago, resigned on Thursday citing "personal reasons," reported the U-T.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Daigle will be the department’s interim chief.

"Canavan joined the department on Oct. 14. Before joining the department, Canavan worked at the Poway Fire Department as a fire marshal," wrote the U-T which added "Canavan plans to return to work in Poway, where he lives with his wife and two teen-aged sons."
