Pet Haus Opening in Encinitas

The doors will be open by April.

Encinitas residents will soon have new one-stop-shop for all their furry critters. Pet Haus is slated to open this spring in the Santa Fe Plaza Shopping Center, across the street from Scripps Memorial Hospital.

The store will offer healthy, high-end pet food (including raw, kibble, and canned), toys, treats, supplies, and accessories. There will also be a state of the art do-it-yourself washing facility for dogs, cats, and maybe the occasional pot-bellied pig. A basic wash will run you about $15, and each station is equipped to reduce water use and offers environmentally-friendly shampoos.

“Our goal is to provide high quality nutrition and improve the lives of our furry friends and the people who love them,” said owner Elias Berlin, who is a San Diego local and has a background in food science and technology, mostly working in the food industry. “Being an animal enthusiast all my life, I am thrilled to have found a way of combining my career and my passion.”

A big part of Pet Haus’ mission will also be dedicated to helping local animal rescue groups.

“We are aware that not all pets are fortunate enough to have a loving home and specifically in our community there are many shelters,” Berlin said. “We hope to work in close proximity with these shelters and support them in any way we can and inspire the community to do the same.”

“We are very excited to open in Encinitas and hope to soon become part of the community,” Berlin added.

The store will likely have a soft opening some time next month and plans to host a grand opening celebration in April.

This is the second new business to recently join the Santa Fe Plaza Shopping Center. Encinitas Sushi Lounge will also open there this spring.
