Photos: Pancakes for a Cause
The breakfast raised money for the city's youth basketball program.
Saturday morning marked the , which helps raise money to keep the sports program running. Volunteers with the Greater Encinitas Kiwanis Club and the San Dieguito Academy High School Key Club were on hand to flip all those pancakes—and plenty of neighbors were on hand to help eat them, too.
Members of the Key Club also decorated four treasure chests, which will eventually be filled with books and given to local children in need. Those decked out treasure chests were on display for a contest, which was judged by Danny Salzhandler of the 101 Artists’ Colony, Encinitas Councilwoman Teresa Barth and Encinitas Councilman Mark Muir.
