Scooter Crash Injures Encinitas Man

Bradley Mills, 44, suffered a severe leg injury on a street in Fallbrook.

A 44-year-old Encinitas man faces drunken driving charges and the loss of part of his leg after driving his scooter, possibly without its lights, on a street in Fallbrook on New Year's Eve.

Bradley Mills was driving a 2002 Vespa scooter, possibly without any lights on, south on Gird Road approaching Caballo Lane at an unknown speed about 5:24 p.m. Saturday, according to CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt.

A 45-year-old Fallbrook man in a 1995 Honda Civic was driving north on Gird Road and turned left onto Caballo Lane, into the path of the scooter, Bettencourt said.
