St. Germain’s Bistro Launches ‘Lady Chef’ Series

The quarterly foodie event kicks off tomorrow.

Tomorrow  launches Lady Chef, a quarterly guest chef series featuring some of the area’s top female chefs.

The inaugural foodie event will include: Isabel Cruz of Isabel’s Restaurants; Dawn Parks of The Wild Thyme Company-Catering and Events; Kari Rich of Food Farm Truck; and Alvanette Kauwalu, a personal chef specializing in Hawaiian and Asian cuisine.

Every three months one of these women will create a special dinner menu for St. Germain’s menu. The idea is that this rotating culinary showcase will work similar to how a gallery features new works by guest artists. The menu will be prepared in collaboration with

Nino 'Neens' Camilo, founder of I Love Poke Festival, is the curator of the Lady Chef series, which he created to liven up the eatery’s dinner scene.

“Lady chefs are the minority in the industry, but many females are the best in the biz, so why not give them a special time to shine? We’re also making the cuisine of the featured chefs more accessible to North County and giving foodies an opportunity to experience their amazing flavors and talent," he said in a news release.

The Lady Chef series debuts Wednesday, Feb. 1, featuring Isabel Cruz the executive chef and owner of San Diego’s Barrio Star, Coffee Cup and Isabel’s Cantina. In honor of Cruz’s signature bold Latin flair, St. Germain’s will offer a month-long Taco Tuesday special and a special Valentine’s Day menu.

The next guest chef series will be in May featuring Kari Rich of Food Farm Truck; and then in August featuring Dawn Parks of The Wild Thyme; and lastly in November featuring Alvanette Kauwalu, a personal chef specializing in Hawaiian and Asian cuisine.

In between the quarterly dinner installments St. Germain’s chef Kaitlin Ramos will showcase a of French bistro and coastal California cuisine during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The month of October will be dedicated to breast cancer awareness and the menu will consist of recipes from all five Lady Chefs
