Village Park Residents Warned of Coyotes in the Area
At least one pet has been recently killed, and there have been reports of several attacks.

Flyers have been circulating in Village Park warning residents of coyotes roaming in the area, and at least one pet has been recently killed.
One such flyer states that this time of year mother coyotes are hunting in the area to feed their pups—and that there have been several reported attacks on dogs and cats. The flyer also states that in some cases, the coyotes have jumped fences to reach the animals.
Village Park resident Kate Tobin has lived in the neighborhood for ten years and she says this summer, the coyotes seem especially aggressive. Sunday her cat Kaya was attacked and killed in daylight.

Tobin, who works as a vet tech at a nearby veterinarian’s office, says Kaya only went out during the daytime, and had done so for the past eight years. Sunday afternoon Tobin discovered the remains of her cat, a leg and a tail, which she says was the unmistakable work of a coyote. She hopes other pet owners in the area take heed and keep an extra watchful eye.
The flyer circulating through Village Park also urges residents to not put trash out over night—and instead, wait until the morning when crews come to pick it up. It also suggests putting all pet food and water indoors, and keeping patios and yards brightly lit.
