What's Cooking: Brazilian Restaurant Opens; Bier Garden to Replace Barracuda Grill

The dining landscape in Encinitas is changing with one restaurant recently opened, one recently closed and others coming to town.

Sabor de Vida, a Brazilian eatery, opened Saturday, according to its owner Rafael Pedroso. It is located at 215 S. El Camino Real, Suite G. Its hours of operation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

A note on Barracuda Grill, 641 S. Coast Highway, explains that the establishment has closed.

“Thank you to all of our loyal customers for many great years in Encinitas,” it reads and is signed from "Chef Mo."

The Bier Garden Inc. has applied to take over ownership of the location, according to a notice from the California Department of Beverage Control. The premises are already licensed to sell alcohol, it added.

Various other restaurants are also in the works across Encinitas:

  •  Native Foods Café on El Camino Real is slated to open this winter.
  • Soltera Winery and Kitchen is aiming for a grand opening in late December or early January, according to owner Christopher Van Alyea.
