Firefighters Rescue Dog In Encino Stripmall Fire
A blaze scorched a one- story strip mall in Encino Thursday night.
ENCINO, CA — Firefighters extinguished a blaze in one unit of a one- story strip mall in Encino in 10 minutes Thursday evening and rescued a dog found behind the building.
Crews responded about 8:55 p.m. to the 17700 block of Ventura Boulevard, near White Oak Avenue, and while attempting to shut off power to the store, firefighters found a dog behind the building, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters rescued the dog and returned it to the business owner, who is also the dog's owner. Crews were then able to turn off the utilities safely.

The fire got into the walls of the store, but not into any adjacent units, but some smoke damage was reported in other units, Prange said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
