Police Blotter: Alert Citizen Leads to Capture of Home Burglar
A good Samaritan called 911 on Tuesday to report that two men were removing property from his neighbor's house, according to police.

A burglary was reported at 7:30 a.m. in the 4700 block of White Oak Place.

A good citizen and neighbor who lives near White Oak Avenue and Vanowen took action when he assisted the LAPD in the capture of a burglary suspect, West Valley officers reported. On March 1, the citizen heard glass breakage at his next door neighbor’s residence. He saw two male Hispanics jumping his neighbor’s rear fence with property in hand and followed the suspects on foot. The neighbor dialed 911 from his cell phone, which prompted the arrival of LAPD officers. One suspect was taken into custody without incident the other suspect remained outstanding after an exhaustive search by LAPD Metropolitan K9 units, police reported.

Feb. 27
The dog didn't eat his homework; the burglar took it. A burglary from vehicle was reported at 10 p.m. in the 4800 block of Valjean Avenue. A teacher woke up to find his briefcase missing from the backseat of his car. Officer Julio Sandoval found a rock lying on the floor of the car and determined that it was used to break the window.

Feb. 25
A stolen vehicle was reported at 6 p.m. in the 5500 block of Newcastle Avenue.
A burglary from vehicle was reported at 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Burbank and Hayvenhurst.
A burglary from vehicle was reported at 10:30 a.m. in the 17000 block of Ventura Boulevard.
A petty theft was reported at 9 a.m. in the 17400 block of Ventura Boulevard.

A petty theft was reported at 3:33 p.m. in the 18000 block of Bullock Street.
A burglary from vehicle was reported at 11 a.m. in the 17400 block of Ventura Boulevard.
A petty theft was reported at 9:30 a.m. in the 16800 block of Ventura Boulevard.
