2 Pedestrians Killed By Trains In 2 Separate North County Incidents

Two pedestrians were killed in separate collisions in North County this weekend.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Two pedestrians were fatally struck by trains in two separate incidents in North County this weekend.

A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck a pedestrian in Camp Pendleton at around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. Military police and Camp Pendleton fire personnel responded to the collision and declared the victim dead at the scene, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The second collision occurred in Vista just before 5 a.m. Sunday on the North County Transit District line that travels from the Oceanside to Escondido, where a Sprinter train struck a pedestrian, according to deputies.

Deputies and fire personnel responded to the collision and declared the victim dead at the scene.

Neither the victims' identities nor additional information about the crashes have been released.
