Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Car In Escondido

The collision happened when a man was riding a bike across East Valley Parkway in Escondido, police said.

ESCONDIDO, CA — A bicyclist was fatally struck by a car over the weekend in Escondido, authorities said.

The collision happened at about 9:10 p.m. Saturday when a man was riding a bike across East Valley Parkway, according to the Escondido Police Department. He was crossing roughly 100 feet west of the intersection of Ash Street when a westbound Honda Accord struck him.

"The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police," police said. "Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the crash."

The victim's identity was withheld pending family notification. The crash was under investigation.
