ESCONDIDO, CA — A man died Friday after he tried to exit his vehicle while in a car wash and became trapped between machinery and the car, police said.
The man tried to get out of his 2014 Scion XB on Friday evening while inside a self-serve car wash in the 2100 block of East Valley Parkway, police said. The vehicle rolled forward, pinning the man between the car and the machinery.
The car wash didn't seem to be activated at the time, police said. Officers found the man unresponsive. Sgt. Chris Leso of the Escondido Police Department told City News Service that officers lifted the vehicle to free the man and tried to revive him. He died at a hospital.
