Fair Oaks Patch remembers those from the community who fell serving their country.

Memorial Day means many things to many people. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates United States service members who died while in the military service.
It’s a day about people and about how those people impacted the lives of countless others’ lives. For those living in Fair Oaks, those people – those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice - are likely to never be forgotten.
Today Fair Oaks will honor many who have fallen serving their country.

According to Military Times’ website, the following soldiers hail from Fair Oaks, though many others may as well.
Army Pfc. Charles A. Williams died Feb. 7, 2010 serving during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Williams, 29, was assigned to the 97th Military Police Battalion, 18th Military Police Brigade in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Army Sgt. Ronald L. Coffelt died July 19, 2007 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Baghdad. Coffelt, 36, was assigned to the 503rd Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade (airborne), XVIII Airborne Corps in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Army Spc. Genaro Acosta died Nov. 11, 2003 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Taji, Iraq. Acosta, 26, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division (Mech) in Fort Hood, Texas.
