Answer: What Early Building Design Does This Rendition Depict?

Last week we put Fair Oaks Patch readers to task, wondering if they recognized a .
Many people posted their guesses, but only one was correct.
It was who correctly guessed (with an uncanny attention to detail) the design was in fact an early rendition of what would someday be San Juan High School.

"The high school district was formed in 1913 with 46 students but, because of the lack of a building, the students met for two years in the Fair Oaks Elementary School (now the Community Clubhouse)," said Fair Oaks historian James Pearce.
After two years of finding land and building the original school, the students began classes in the new structure in Fall of 1915 (first picture), said Pearce.

It sure doesn't look anything like the San Juan High School we've known recently with it's flat, rather plain exterior. In the 1930's two wings were built in front of the original building which was eventually torn down in the late '50s.
Recently, with the renovation of the school, planners went back to the original design for inspiration, and as the second photo shows, the planned frontage for the New San Juan High School.
San Juan High School will celebrate its centennial in 2013.
