Members of Carmichael-area non-profit groups said they are anticipating a busy weekend selling fireworks to raise funds after rain on Tuesday delayed many groups from setting up.
Tuesday was the first day stands could open but unseasonable rain kept all but a few stands from opening at all, because the groups don't have rain insurance, said John Campbell, a parent with the Carmichael Beavers Swim Team, which has a stand in the Safeway shopping center at Manzanita and Cypress avenues.
"It's been pretty slow," Campbell, whose son Caber is on the swim team, said Thursday afternoon. "But the closer you get to the 4th and that day it just snowballs, especially during the parade when people are here waiting."

Children should be supervised at all times when fireworks are in use; even Safe and Sane fireworks can cause injury, fire officials said.
Do not let your children run with sparklers and ensure that they maintain a safe distance from others while handling them to avoid accidental burns. Always have a functioning hose ready to fully extinguish used fireworks.
