Authorities Deem Suspicious Bag Safe at Sunrise Mall Bank

Citrus Heights Police and Sacramento County Sheriff units respond after an unknown man left a bag at a US Bank in Sunrise Mall.

Citrus Heights Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff's bomb units responded to a report of a suspicious bag left in the lobby of the US Bank in the Sunrise Mall shopping center Wednesday afternoon.

The call was made when a heavy-set white male wearing a grey parka dropped a backpack in front of a teller, demanding money, Sacramento County Sherrif's spokesman, Jason Ramos said.

After being denied, the man fled on foot, leaving the backpack, Ramos said.

Deputies arrived after concerned employees moved the suspicious backpack outside the bank located at the corner of Sunrise Avenue and Greenback Lane, Ramos said.

Bomb disposal units were dispatched to the scene and deemed the backpack safe around 4 p.m.
