Boys Basketball: Cougars Fall To Broncos
Bella Vista pulls away from Del Campo in fourth quarter.
In a loud rivalry game that was four points apart entering the fourth quarter on Tuesday, the l team owned the paint in the final eight minutes of play.
The Broncos (20-4, 6-1 in the Capital Valley Conference) won the third "Battle of the (Fair) Oaks" matchup in a row this season against neighborhood rival (19-5, 5-2 CVC) taking Tuesday's home game 63-47.
Del Campo had gotten off to a good start, leading the Broncos 11-8 after the first quarter. Bella Vista, leading 42-38 at the end of three, went on a 10-2 run to start the fourth to pull away from the pesky Cougars, outscoring them 21-9 in the final frame.

"Our depth was key in the end," said Broncos coach Dave Gonzalez. "They're a good team; they're tough but we started making shots and attacking in the second half."
Bella Vista was led by seniors KJ Logue and Cristian Salhani with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

"We took a gut check early and matched their intensity," Logue said. "It's always nice to beat Del Campo but it's important that we get a higher seed in the playoffs."
Davit Sagateylan led Del Campo with 14 points and Trey Novak added 7.
"We've got to wash this game down the drain," said Cougars coach Dave Nobis. "We struggled in the paint because they're bigger; my guys battled but we didn't shoot the ball well."
Bella Vista's next game is Thursday at home against Oakmont of Roseville. That same night, Del Campo is at Rio Linda.
"You can;t overlook anybody," Gonzalez said. "We're going to take it one game at a time and get ready for Oakmont."
