Carmichael Native Ling in Sacramento Tuesday

Television journalist and Carmichael native Lisa Ling was back in the region Tuesday as part of the Sacramento Speaker Series.

Ling, a 1991 graduate of , was at the Community Center Theater.

She has served as field correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show and is a former contributor to ABC News' Nightline and National Geographic's Explorer. Ling has also worked on Channel One News and ABC's The View.

Ling currently hosts a series on the Oprah Winfrey Network called Our America with Lisa Ling.

Ling told The Sacramento Bee that she would speak Tuesday about a book she wrote with her sister Laura, who was imprisoned in North Korea in 2009.

"I'll share some stories I've reported throughout my career and talk about how they've profoundly affected me," Lisa Ling told The Bee.
