Census Counts Show Fair Oaks' Population Grew 10 Percent Over Past Decade

According to U.S. Census data Fair Oaks' population is nearly 31,000.

Figures released Tuesday from the 2010 Census show that Fair Oaks’ population grew by more than 10 percent from 2000 to 2010.

Overall, the community’s population grew from 28,008 to 30,912, an increase of 2,904 residents.

In California, the population grew 10 percent from 33.9 million in 2000 to 37.3 million in 2010.

The 18-years-old and older population of Hispanic and Latino residents had the largest increase in the community, growing from 1,202 in 2000 to 1,948 – a total of 746 residents or a 62 percent increase. Other notable specific increases included the 49 percent increase in African American populations, growing by 178 residents from 367 in 2000 to 545 in 2010.

Figures for specific cities' populations will be available later Tuesday afternoon, via the Census Bureau's new American FactFinder site.
