Could You Adopt Carole Sturgis' Pet Cat?

Two of Carole Sturgis' cats were home the night she died. Only one has been recovered, said neighbors, and she needs a home.

Even the smallest of lives can often be impacted in the wake of tragedy.

When Carole Sturgis' life suddenly and tragically came to an end on the evening of July 8, she left behind many things, including her cat, seven-year-old Sheba.

Since Sturgis' passing Sheba has bounced around from neighbor to neighbor. Now Fair Oaks husband and wife, Kathryn and Bud Beebe have taken in Sheba, but they know they cannot care for the cat forever. The couple, who would pass by Sturgis' home on their nightly neighborhood walks, is seeking a new home for Sheba and they're looking in Fair Oaks first.

The Beebes have three cats already. Adding one more, Bud explained, would be too much, even for him to handle.

"To give it the future it should have, we're looking for someone to help out and take care of the cat," Bud said. "We have three of own own. We need people to come together."

Sheba is a calico cat, approximately 7-years-old. The Beebes describe the kitty as gentle, timid and sweet. According to her medical records, she was a homeless cat until sometime in 2006, when she was taken in by Sturgis.

"Carole provided a good home for Sheba with an indoor/outdoor lifestyle, regular veterinary care and a spay job," Bud said.

"We have Sheba's complete medical history from  from September 2006 through April 2012," Kathryn said. "This details her vaccinations, exams, consultations, treatments, boarding, weight, etc."
