Earl LeGette Leads Community STAR Scores

The Kenneth Avenue elementary school received the best average scores on the standardized tests in the area.

According to new state figures released Monday, the Kenneth Avenue elementary school has consistently scored highest among Rosemont schools in math, English and science during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 California Standards Tests.

About 75 percent of the 376 LeGette students tested scored "proficient or advanced" in math in 2011 compared to 77 percent of the 348 students tested in 2010. Nearly 72 percent of the 372 students tested scored in that category for English compared to 73 percent of the 345 students tested in 2010.

showed impressive scores for 2011 and 2010. In 2010 and 2011, 135 students were tested in science and in both years 85.9 percent scored a "proficient/advanced" rating. Math was also a consistently high performing category for students. Of the 465 students tested in 2011, 78.9 percent scored an advanced rating, while 82.1 percent of the 459 students received the same rating for 2010.

also scored consistently well compared to other schools in the area. The elementary school scored well in its science category year-over-year, most recently of the 65 students 83 percent tested scored "proficient or advanced".

 students have maintained fairly average STAR test scores year over year.

has not faired so well, where just 20 percent of students tested in math scored an area-low in high marks. The stats for the year before were nearly identical.
