It's the unofficial start to summer, but Memorial Day is more than just about barbeques and camping.
If you're staying in Fair Oaks this weekend, there are many ways to mark the holiday. Local veterans groups will be holding events in the Sacramento region to remember fallen comrades and celebrate service in the nation's armed forces.

Saturday
The will hold its sixth annual Huge Rummage Sale. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. locals can help support the church's FUEL Youth department. FUEL Student Ministries department has a vision to reach teens in our community. This is annual Rummage Sale will include gently used furniture, clothing, accessories, kitchenware, tools, electronic, toys and much more. Come check it out and walk away with some great stuff.

The 14th annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held inside the . Beginning at 10 a.m. ceremony master of events Tom Askins will lead a musical program provided by the American Veterans Band, conducted by Warren ‘Bud’ Turner. There will be a color guard and rifle salute team from Civil War member organizations. Also a ceremony of the laying of the wreath at the memorial in honor of more than 1,600 veterans who are buried in the cemetery.
