Ex-Jesuit High Teacher Faces Charges of 'Inappropriate Acts' with Former Student
An e-mail sent out to Jesuit High School alumni informed them former teacher, coach and counselor William Farrington has been accused of "inappropriate conduct with a student."

A former teacher is facing accusations of inappropriate conduct with a student stemming from an incident in the 1960s, according to an e-mail sent out to parents and alumni.
According to the letter, the accusations against William Farrington were recently made public by a former student of San Jose's Bellarmine College Preparatory School, alleging Farrington molested him 40 years ago.
According to a letter from the California Province of the Society of Jesus, Farrington supervised the school’s boarding students in the 1960s and 1970s. The Province is acknowledging the allegations against Farrington as "credible."

Farrington, a brother in the Jesuit order, was a staff member at the Carmichael high school from 1976-1987, said Jesuit High School spokesman Jordan Blair.
Blair explained that the e-mail sent out acknowledges the allegations, noting that in 1987 two students came forward with similar allegations against Farrington. Farrington was barred from the high school that same year following the allegations.

According to the letter released by the California Province of Jesuits, Harrington now exercises no public ministry and lives under close supervision at the Jesuit infirmary. In 2002, the California Province of the Society of Jesus removed him from all ministry and his supervision has been regularly reviewed by a team of lay professionals.
Jesuit High School officials are asking students who may have been harmed by Farrington to contact law enforcement directly. Those victims can also contact a victim advocate of the California Province of the Society of Jesus at 408-893-8398.
