Fair Oaks Harvest Day Set for Aug. 3

The upcoming Harvest Day in Fair Oaks will give green thumbs and green thumbs in training the tools for gardening success. 

The free event, at the Fair Oaks Horticulture Center, will include gardening-expert presentations, farm-fresh produce, tours of the center and more. Some of this year's highlights include:

• Adam Pechal, Sacramento restaurant chef and owner at Tuli Bistro and Restaurant Thir13en will talk about how he uses farm-fresh foods in his dishes
• Locals will get tips on composting
• Having trouble planting things near the river? Sit in on a river-friendly landscaping presentation
• Tips for growing tomatoes
