Firefighters Extinguish Fire Inside Cenacle Lane Home
Cause said to be accidental; electrical wire failure could not be ruled out.

Firefighters extinguished a fire early this morning inside a home on Cenacle Lane in Carmichael, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials reported.
At about 3:55 a.m., fire crews responded to a general fire alarm in a residence at 1918 Cenacle Lane, Assistant Chief Dale Turner said in a news release. Units arrived and found a fire in the exterior wall of the dining room that extended into the attic space of the more than 6.000 square-foot home.
Arriving firefighters found the elderly residents of the home had been assisted out by a caretaker. One of the occupants was confined to a wheelchair, Turner said.

The tile roof made access to the attic fire very difficult, he said. Firefighters requested a second alarm and a total of 48 firefighters in eight engine companies, four truck companies, and two medics responded to the blaze.
Extensive salvage and overhaul was started early to assist in reducing damage to the home and furnishings. The cause of the fire was determined to have started in the exterior wall of the home and was accidental, Turner said.
