Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters on Monday rescued a cat in Carmichael that had become stuck in the engine compartment of a vehicle.
Sac Metro firefighters arrived on the scene and were told that the owner of the vehicle attempted to start the car and heard a noise in the engine compartment. The vehicle's owner checked under the hood and found that the cat was entangled in the belts of the motor.

Firefighters could see the cat and the only option was to cut through the belts to release it. The cat was severely injured with lacerations.
Firefighters took the cat to the , which took the cat without hesitation and performed life saving surgery. The female cat, now know as Blaze, will be up for adoption in about two weeks if all goes well with the surgery.
