Friday Night Special, 7/15: Charlie Murphy, Concerts and Karaoke
A look ahead at tonight's attractions in and around Fair Oaks.
Is it just us or did this week fly by? Whatever the case may be, it's Friday. When that work whistle blows and it's time to clock off, the night awaits. There are some fun ways to spend your Friday night this week, including an Orangevale concert at The Boardwalk, karaoke at The San Juan Club and a little comedy brought to you by none other than the one and only Charlie Murphy. Looking for something to do tonight? Look no further.
Anarbor and Valencia Do America
Pop-punk/rock bands Anarbor and Valencia will be handing out double doses of their high-energy music this evening at The Boardwalk beginning at 8 p.m. The bands are touring on their Anarbor and Valencia Do America tour with artwork stealing a page from the Beavis and Butthead Do America movie. Good times are likely to ensue, so come out and support independent music the way it should be: with a fist in the air and some ironic dance moves to boot. It's an all-ages show and tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at the door. For more information call The Boardwalk at 916-988-9247.
Karaoke Night
If you'd rather make a little music of your own, head on over to for karaoke night. Not sure you have what it takes to belt out those tunes the way you've always heard them? Not to worry, The San Juan will have a few libations on tap to help bolster the courage you need to make you sound just like your favorite band ... at least in your head. It's an opportunity to get out with friends and loved ones for some good times and a few laughs. It's also a good opportunity to bring the camera along just in case you're in need of some good bribing material. The karaoke machine starts playing around 9:00 p.m. and goes till closing time.
