Heat Wave On the Way in Carmichael

Temperatures will climb into the triple digits in Carmichael for the next few days.

If you thought the weekend was warm, Mother Nature isn't finished yet. 

Get ready for sweltering weather this week, in what the National Weather Service is calling "the most extensive period of hot weather for northern California experienced so far this summer."

Temperatures in the Sacramento area will break 100 starting Tuesday for the rest of the week, according to the NWS. In the Carmichael area, the agency is predicting a weekly high of 104 degrees on Wednesday.

By comparison, the Sacramento-area high for all of 2011 was 102 degrees, according to the NWS.

Make sure to drink plenty of water and keep pets inside during the late afternoon when temperatures peak, the NWS warns.
