Holiday Weekend Water Rescue Numbers Released

The following is a summary of the activity that area Marine Enforcement Detail did this past 4th of July weekend on local waterways.

Number of deputies worked – 6

Total number of hours on the water – 121

Vessels inspected – 65

Number of violations cited – 34

Violations admonished with verbal warnings – 103

Vessels assisted – 9 (34 persons on board, collectively)

Other assists – 2 (Assisted Park Rangers with large fight at Tiscornia Beach / assisted US Coast Guard with security zone at Mandeville)

Number of Boating Under the Influence arrests – 2

The Drowning Accident Rescue Team had one call-out for a body recovery at Folsom South Canal, near Sunrise Boulevard and Jackson Road.
