
alum Lars Anderson (Class of 2006) was called up by the Boston Red Sox earlier this season, school officials announced.
Anderson, a first baseman/outfielder, was promoted from Triple-A Pawtucket, according to MLB.com. Following a May 1 loss to the Oakland Athletics, he was optioned back to Pawtucket, going 1-for-8 in six games.
Anderson spent time on the Major League roster the last two seasons, hitting .175 with no homers and four RBIs in 40 at-bats, according to MLB.com.

Anderson joins other current MLB players from Carmichael-area schools including Pittsburgh's Derrek Lee from El Camino, John Bowker of Rio Americano who was last with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay's J.P. Howell of Jesuit.
