Center offers popular game, parties, video arcade.
Video games have increased in popularity in recent years thanks to combat shooter games like Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3 but some adults complain that the games discouage youths from physical activity.
That's where businesses like Lasertag of Carmichael come in.
The center at 6031 Fair Oaks Boulevard offers the popular laser tag game where players are divided into teams and move around inside a blacklit room shooting targets on opposing players with laser light guns to earn points.

"The cool thing about laser tag is that anybody can play it and there aren't many activities where you can say that," said Sean Lively, Lasertag of Carmichael's owner. "It's a great form of exercise; you go in an run your legs off."
Guests can have birthday parties in blacklighted medieval-themed rooms and there's a video arcade with 26 games. A kitchen will be added to serve food including pizza, hot dogs and nachos.

The laser tag center has been at the same location since 1997 but Lively said he has owned it for three years and upgraded to a state-of-the-art laser tag system.
"With the advance in laser tag technology, we're able to capitalize on popular video games," he said. "With video games, you know what to expect but with laser tag, every game is different because you're playing against different people."
Everyone from kids to teens to adults, youth sports and corporate teams play laser tag, Lively said.
The cost is $5.25 per game per person, two games for $10 and three for $14.75.
