Local High Schoolers Compete in State Track and Field Meet

Jesuit's Boals, Del Campo's Rushing qualify for finals today.

Carmichael-area high school student-athletes competed in the state finals Friday in Clovis,with two boys qulaifying for today's finals.

's Stephen Boals finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 171 feet, 1 inch and second in the shot put with a throw of 60 feet, 10 1/2 inches, The Sacramento Bee reported.

Del Campo junior Jordan Rushing landed the last qualifying sport in the 1600, finishing 12th in 4:13.05, The Bee said.

Austin Mitsch of Jesuit finished the season placing 16th in the state in the 100-meter dash with a career best 10.88 seconds, said school spokesman Jordan Blair. Fellow Marauder Colton Misono finished 17th in the state in the 800m with a time of 1:53.33, a career best by two seconds.

A result for El Camino's Chris Kigar in the 3200 meter run was not immediately available.
