March 23-28: Forced Entry, Robberies Make a Comeback

A dispute between step father and sons escalates to violence.

Familial dispute turns violent

A verbal altercation between a stepfather and his stepson escalated to violence Friday, March 23, prompting Sacramento County Sheriff's units to intervene. According to a report filed by Sheriff's deputies, the fight broke out around 11:57 a.m. after the stepson, Keith Macferren, 18, took a swing at his stepfather, Christopher Watson, 51, as the verbal dispute progressively escalated. The swing missed Watson, prompting him to counter-punch Macferren, closed-fist in the face. According to the report, Macferren then called his older brother Mitchell, 22, letting him know he was in a fight with Watson. The older brother drove to Watson's home on the 9000 block of Pecor Way, immediately attacking Watson. As the fight progressively escalated between the three men, Mitchell grabbed a stoneware-baking dish and hit Watson over the head with it, causing it to shatter into several pieces. The hit resulted in a laceration on the side of Watson's forehead and the dish shards apparently cut Keith's forefinger. Mitchell reportedly did not receive any injuries during the fight; however, paramedics looked at all parties before being taken into custody with multiple count of assault and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
