Marshall Avenue House Fire Investigated as Arson

House was unoccupied at the time.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters extinguished a house fire on the 4200 block of Marshall Avenue in Carmichael early Wednesday morning, district officials said.

Upon arrival at about 12:15 a.m., firefighters reported the front door of the home was open with a fire in the kitchen. The fire was controlled and extinguished within 15 minutes of arrival, officials said.

The home was unoccupied and damages are estimated at $50,000.

The cause is being investigated as an arson, officials said.
