Mercy San Juan Company Changes Name

Catholic Healthcare West, which operates six hospitals in the Sacramento area, including Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, has announced it will change its name to Dignity Health.

"Since 1986, our network of hospitals has existed under the name Catholic Healthcare West. On Monday, that name changed to Dignity Health," hospital officials said in a released statement. "Our Sacramento-area hospital names – Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Mercy General Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Folsom, Methodist Hospital of Sacramento – remain the same."'

"This new structure positions our organization for growth and for success in a reformed health care environment. The word 'dignity' perfectly defines what our organization stands for: showing respect for all people by providing excellent care. 

Our Catholic hospitals will continue to be Catholic and we will continue to be sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. Our operations, policies, and procedures will not be impacted."
