Meth Bust Lands Man in County's Main Jail

Erratic driving and other suspicious activity lead to the arrest.

A man Fair Oaks man is under arrest after exhibiting some suspicious maneuvers behind the steering wheel.

According to a report filed by Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies, on March 18 around 3:07 p.m., the man, Peter Cardinale, 44, was observed driving his vehicle on Jonnie Way when he suddenly turned onto Britland Way and parked his vehicle. Cardinale and his female passenger then exited the vehicle. 

The deputy observed Cardinale and the passenger standing in the yard to a residence and waited for both to enter the vehicle again. A short time later, Cardinale and the passenger switched seats so the passenger could then drive. It was at this point the deputy decided to intervene.

According to the report, the deputy conducted a vehicle stop for a California Vehicle Code violation. Cardinale and the now-driver appeared to be nervous and very talkative. A probationary search of the vehicle revealed a functional digital scale with what appeared to be a white residue on it. After a brief discussion, the woman handed the deputy a package which contained an off white crystal-like substance subsequently identified as methamphetamine. Unused new packaging was also found inside the package. The woman admitted that Cardinale had given her the package just before deputies arrived. 

Cardinale was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges including possession of illegal narcotics and intent to distribute.
