"We've participated in club volleyball (the Wahines team in Sacramento) so we work together as a team," said junior libero Samantha Benson.
Teammate junior outside hitter Alexandria Sadler said the team's chemistry is strong.
"I want to win games to show that we can win and not be the team everyone beats up on," Sadler said. "We're going into games not wanting to lose."
Mira Loma played late Wednesday against Foresthill. The next games are Thursday against Florin and Sept. 13 versus Woodcreek of Roseville. The first game against Whitney is Sept. 14. The Matadors face Rio Americano on Sept. 21 and El Camino on Sept. 26.
