Mobile Food Trucks Come to Carmichael: Which Do You Want?
Locals were introduced to Carmichael's first dose of mobile food truck mania Thursday evening. Which was your favorite?
The that has been sweeping through Sacramento all summer finally made its way into Carmichael Thursday evening.
Though this wasn't a first-time experience for myself, it was for the Carmichael area. It's great knowing the area will get a chance to experience the social quality these food truck events bring to the community, too. The crowds started small, but it wasn't before long that the 6314 Fair Oaks Blvd parking lot started filling up with patrons.
California Mobile Food Association (aka Foodmob) event coordinator Catherine Enfield describe the scene as a mini-mob and it wasn't too far from the truth at all. Small groups came and went throughout the evening hours; it wasn't overwhelming, but people who stopped in to check out the vendors seemed to be having a good time.

Prices are fairly inexpensive and the quality of food is really good. It's a nice change of pace, especially for an area that hasn't had a chance to host such an experience.
I'll preface this by saying I'd make a terrible food critic; I'll eat everything and more than likely find a reason to like it. That said, I really enjoyed everything I sampled. And I brought my appetite too. Though the selection was limited, it certainly gave me a chance to check out the spread. Check out what I tried and let me know if you tried it too. Also, let me know what you'd like to see the next time the mobile food truck posse rolls through town.

Addisons Originals - I'm a sucker for pulled pork, so this was an easy sell for me. I tried the Pua'a sliders. These Hawaiian-influenced sliders were slow-marinated, juicy and deliciously messy. I really enjoyed these. The sweet sauce mixed with different fruit juices really set off the salty, savory pork.
Miz Shirley Marie's Cuisine on Wheels - Three words: Shrimp. Po. Boys. Here are a few more words: This was hands-down one of the best things I tried. Loved it! Lots of spicy shrimp off set with a creamy cole-slaw medley on a po-boy bun - it was pretty delicious.
California Love Truck - The carnitas fries set me over the edge. Like I said earlier, I brought my appetite. Well, these little guys pack one heck of a punch. Lots of marinated and slightly crisped pork over frech fries with some pickled cabbage and sweet and savory sauce. It's a simple as that. And with that I was full.
Local Kine Shave Ice - I couldn't not try the shaved ice. I mean, it was right there. So I did and I was happy I decided to make my stomach work a little harder on this evening. I tried the pink lemonade. Local Kine had plenty of flavors to choose from, including something I'd never seen before: Mochi bites, which are little frozen bits of flavored rice cake. I highly reccomend trying those.

What mobile food truck should I try next? Which should come next time to Carmichael? I'd love to hear which trucks and menu items are your favorite.
