Officials Search for Answers in Deaths of Father and Daughter

Officials search for answers in the death of Mourad "Moni" Samaan and his 2-year-old daughter, Madeline Samaan-Fay.

While family and friends mourn the death of Fair Oaks resident Mourad Samaan and his 2-year-old daughter, Madeline Samaan-Fay, officials continue to investigate the events that lead to Saturday's tragic discovery.

El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies of Mourad “Moni” Samaan, 49, and his 2-year-old daughter, Madeline Samaan-Fay, late Saturday in Samaan's missing green Toyota on his remote Grizzly Flats property in El Dorado County.

KOVR, Channel 13 news reports the two went missing following a custody battle over Madeline between Samaan and his ex-wife, Marcia Fay, a deputy attorney general for the state Department of Justice.

El Dorado County Sheriff officials are still investigating the motives that lead up to the tragic events and the official cause of death has yet to be released.

Calls to El Dorado County Sheriff's Office have yet to be returned at the time of reporting.
