Residents and visitors of the Sacramento area have a new resource to help answer questions about anything and everything in the Sacramento area. That resource? Each other.
A new Web site, SacAsk.com, provides a platform for people with questions about Sacramento to get help finding an answer, or test others' knowledge about Sacramento-related trivia. The site is also designed to attract those who are knowledgeable about Sacramento, or looking to show off their research skills.
While other sites, such as Answers.com and Yahoo! Answers have provided a similar service on a broad scale, Sac Ask aims to provide a much more focused and helpful site where questions don't get lost or overlooked. Another difference, as stated on the site's About page is that the site is "owned by Sacramento area residents, for Sacramento area residents and anyone who is curious about the Sacramento area."
With Sacramento ranking in the top 20 socially networked cities in America, according to Men's Health magazine, it's only natural for Sac Ask to utilize social media sites, like Twitter, Facebook and Sacramento's own SacForums.com, to provide its users with a broader reach. Currently, questions posted by users are also tweeted by @SacAsk on Twitter, posted to the site's Facebook page, and are available via the site's RSS feed and e-mail subscription.
Sac Ask users need to register to post questions, but registration is optional for answering questions, or rating answers. Question askers can also select which answer is correct and that answer is then highlighted for other users to see.
